The Objective of USJJF's National Program of Traditional Kodokan Judo is to unify American Traditional Kodokan Judoka with a foundation of mutual respect and to provide services and guidance to foster Technical Excellence, Fellowship and Human Character Development. The USJJF is committed to Ensuring Integrity and Maintaining the Highest Standards in the Traditional Kodokan Judo Community.

 

Joseph F. Connolly, II

connolly.jpg (8973 bytes)Professor Joseph F. Connolly, II was medically retired by the United States Army Special Forces due to disabling injuries, after a career extending over three
decades. His military service included participation on eight named combat campaigns in addition to expeditionary service. He is also a former United States
Marine.

A Founding Fellow of the Society of Martial Arts, a professional society chartered in the United Kingdom. He is internationally-respected as a leader in the effort to
have the traditional military arts recognized as a legitimate interdisciplinary field of academic study and research.

Professor Connolly is also a faculty member of the International Institute of Specialized Education and Research, in Manchester, England. He holds an
undergraduate degree (magna cum laude) in sociology and a Mastership in Martial Arts (U.K.). He also holds Bachelor of Law, Master of Education, and Juris Doctor degrees, and is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College, as well as the National Security Management Program of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University.

An internationally respected academic, Professor Connolly is also a government consultant on military and public safety issues, and remains a highly sought after guest speaker and lecturer. A lifelong community service volunteer, he holds literally scores of civic, patriotic, educational, and community service awards and recognition, at the community, state, national and international level. He has also held appointed and elected public office. His biography is listed in "Who's Who in America" and "Who's Who in the World", among other published biographical references.

Professor Connolly is privileged to hold Dan rank in Judo from the Kodokan Judo Institute, and remains an unrepentant student of classical pre-Mifune Kodokan Judo under the Korean tradition. He also holds an 8th Dan in Ju-jitsu from the Ju-Jitsu International Federation.

Founding Grandmaster (ChongKwanJang) Connolly was the first non-Korean ever selected to head a traditional Korean military art. Chung Tong Yudo® was jointly chartered by the Korea Judo Association and the ROK Yudo Association, and is cross-registered as a kwon of the Korea Hapkido Federation. He is also the current President of the International Yudo Federation.

He holds a 9th Dan in Judo from the Korea Judo Association and a 9th Dan in the Oriental martial art of Judo from the ROK Yudo Association. He also holds an 8th Dan in Hapkido from the Korea Hapkido Federation, and a 7th Dan in JungDoKwan Taekwondo. He has teaching certificates from the Korea Hapkido Federation, ROK Yudo Association, and Korea Taekwondo Association. He is also a life member of the Korean Martial Arts Instructors Association, headquartered in Shihung City, Korea.

Grandmaster Connolly has been the grateful recipient of a number of prestigious honors in the field of martial arts. They are too numerous to list herein. Prof. Connolly is the founder of the United States Yudo Association. US Yudo is a Partner of the United States Ju-Jitsu Federation.
