Dividing the Work -

Policies are principles, selected from available alternatives, which provide a course of action. They are stated broadly enough to encompass the full range of anticipated actions and narrowly enough to provide definite guidance. They are guides to the National Directors / Board Members who set specific rules and regulations to provide direction in the development of Traditional Kodokan Judo and the USA-TKJ.

THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE FUNCTIONS OF THE NATIONAL DIRECTORS / BOARD MEMBERS AND THE REGIONAL LEADERS IS:

1.     POLICY DETERMINATION – POLICY DETERMINATION – is the responsibility of the NATIONAL DIRECTORS / BOARD MEMBERS as defined in the Bylaws of the USA Traditional Kodokan Judo (USA-TKJ). This responsibility is derived from their legal status and their relationship to both the martial arts community and the general public. Their action establishes policy.

2.     POLICY FORMULATION – is the task of "BOTH" the NATIONAL DIRECTORS / BOARD MEMBERS and the REGIONAL LEADERS. In this they cooperate, each bringing their special insights, experience, and skills to bear on the concerns or opportunities involved. is the task of "BOTH" the NATIONAL DIRECTORS / BOARD MEMBERS and the REGIONAL LEADERS. In this they cooperate, each bringing their special insights, experience, and skills to bear on the concerns or opportunities involved. Once policies are established, it is the task of the Regional Judo Leaders to see that the policies are carried out. USA-TKJ Members may participate in this, but the Regional Leaders are ultimately responsible to see that policies are placed into action, regardless of who engages in the tasks involved.

What Our Members Are Saying

Picture
Jigoro Kano - Founder of Kodokan Judo
Bill Cooley, "The USA-TKJ does not depend on "sport judo" to train, evaluate or recognize progress of a Judoka".

Patrick Hickey, “Historic Judo concepts are crucial to maintain as more and more Judo organizations change to meet the current competition fades. USA-TKJ keeps faith with these traditional values!”
